Navigation Tips

First and foremost - use of any screen resolution other than 1024 x 768 may result in most of the information not being available. Please adjust your screen to this resolution before proceeding (how do I do this)

Second, many of the menu items are still not functional.  If the cursor does not change to the hand sign when it is moved over a menu item or graphic, then the link is not yet activated.  In general, it will only be the menu items that are not linked - any other links that do not work are due to poor coding - not that the data has not yet been entered.

The real purpose behind this web is for ME to be able to access my information while I am travelling, so it is optimised for fast access from internet cafe's in Africa, where internet access speeds are VERY low.

On entering the site, three frames are presented:

The top panel is just the web-site header and serves no other purpose.

The left-hand panel is the main menu, which is used to navigate between the major sections of the web-site. It is scrollable, and clicking on an item at any time will take you to the relevant contents page - which will be displayed on the right-hand panel.

The right-hand panel is where the information is displayed.  It allows one to browse through a further three levels within the web-site. As one descends through the levels the only way to move back up (to where one was before) is to use the browser button - or to go back to the contents page using the menu on the left-hand panel.

When viewing maps of the routes I have taken, lines in dark green (in future, blue) refer to those roads I have travelled on previous trips (or earlier in the same trip) while the blue (in future, red)  lines refer to the roads I am travelling as referred to in the text. In the text the old maps are shown as thumbnails, and clicking on them displays the map.  For the updated maps, the small (quick to load) maps are indicated by , while the large (abd very slow to load) maps are indicated by .

To exit this page, press the button on your browser (generally at the top left of your screen) - or - if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer - you can use the Backspace key as an alternative
